Have you heard the saying "one man's trash is another man's
treasure?" This is a good saying in the coin collecting game. If you can
appreciate coins that others shun you can have loads of fun with a very
small outlay of money.
I inherited a holed gold dollar from my
Grandmother. I thought it was really ruined but it is one thing I remember
my Grandmother by. Then one day I learned about a fellow with a really super
vest and hat with loads of holed coins sewed on them.
This gentleman (Robertson Shinnick AKA Lord Marcovan) graciously sent me a few holey coins for free to get me
started. The photo on the right is Mr. Shinnick in all his glory. He explained he sewed fishing swivels onto clothing. Then he would
clip the coin onto the swivel. This allowed for easy upgrades.
I thought this idea was really neat. I found an extra baseball hat and
started a holed coin collection. Please stop me and say "hi" if you ever see
me at a coin show. I will probably be wearing my holed coin hat.
